At the beginning of 2020, Hierros y Metales Tirso together with the Rucecan company began the demolition of the old buildings that Cementos Alfa owns in the Free Trade Zone of Santander. These are considered as the highest properties in the whole autonomous capital, Cantabria. The main role of the Works will be the removal of fiber cement; garbage and wood, the demolition of warehouses and low parts of the building, generating these last work a platform that allows the backhoe machine to work comfortably and quickly over greater heights.
It is estimated that the works will generate a volume of 24,000 tons of Construction and Demolition Waste (CDR) and the tallest building in Santander (52 meters high), which is located on this plot of 3,000 square meters.
The first works are focused on the adjacent building of lower height (40 meters) and once completely collapsed, we will form a new platform that will be very imoprtant to face the most relevant part of the performance.
The panoramic view of the Port of Santander has modified the demolition of the buildings of Cementos Alfa. It will also free the fishing neighborhood from its main colossus, once the demolition is finished, it will open a new industrial stage at its location.
